CURRICULUM VITAE
SUMMARY
Jordi Torres Viñals, lives in Argentona (a small town near Barcelona), obtained a master degree in Computer Science in 1988 at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC, Barcelona) and holds a Ph. D. in Computer Science (UPC, 1993, Best UPC Computer Science Thesis Award). Currently he is a full time associate professor in the Computer Architecture Department (DAC) at UPC.
His research interests include applications for parallel and distributed systems, web applications, multiprocessor architectures, operating systems, tools and performance analysis and prediction tools. He leads the Barcelona eDragon Research Group integrated in the High Performance Computing Group at DAC. His current research work focuses on the design, prototyping and evaluation of self-management systems for Web services in the area of Autonomic Computing. He has more than 40 international publications (list) in journals and conferences.
He
lectures courses on Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Computer
Architecture and on Performance Evaluation of Computer Systems in the
Computer Science School (FIB) of UPC
and in the PhD program of the Computer Architecture Department. He also
has been Vice-dean of Institutional Relations at the FIB
of
the UPC (1998-2001), and member of the
