HORIZON-MSCA-DN Next gEneration high-Speed opTical netwOrks foR metro access (NESTOR)

The Doctorate Network NESTOR will advanced training to 10 Fellows with PhD projects significantly expanding the flexibility and capacity of access/metro networks. NESTOR harnesses the complementary expertise of top academic groups (Aston, PoliTO, UPC, SSSA, and TU/e) and core telecom industry (Infinera, BT, Orange, SM-Optics, VPI and Ericsson). NESTOR will provide Fellows with a uniquely broad education ranging from recent advances in ML/AI to real-world telecom engineering.

NESTOR will start recuiting January 2024

Invited Speaker
I have been invited to give a talk during OFC 2023 entitled "Is Intelligence the Answer to Deal with the 5 V's of Telemetry Data?".
In this talk, I will show the different characteristics of Telemetry for optical networking and how taking advantage from intelligence data processing can greately simplify telemetry architecture.

The conference will run from 5 - 9 March 2023 at the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, USA.
I have been invited to give a talk during ONDM 2023 entitled "Applications of Digital Twin for Autonomous Zero-Touch Optical Networking".
In this talk, I will introduce two of the applications of Optical Layer Digital Twins, namely misconfiguration detection and QoT estimation. Illustrative results show the accuracy and usefulness of the proposed aplications.

The conference will run from 8 - 11 May 2023 at the Department of Mathematics, of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, Portugal.
I have been invited to give a talk during ICC 2023 entitled "Real-time Autonomous Optical Network Operation: from Vision to Development in B5G-OPEN".
In this talk, I will present novel architectures and solutions designed and developed in B5G-OPEN to enable autonomous network operation in 6G networks. In particular, real-time operation requires the development of several technologies that heavily rely on AI/ML, including:
  • Distributed telemetry system implementing intelligent data aggregation to reduce data volume.
  • Digital twin able to accurately model the data plane.
  • Real-time closed-loop automation.
The conference will run from 28 May to 01 June 2023 in Rome, Italy.
