Short bio

I am a tenure-track Lecturer in the Computer Architecture Department of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Previously, from 2009 to 2010 I was a Marie Curie postdoc reseacher in the Laboratoire d'Analyse et d'Architecture des Systemes (LAAS) in Toulouse, France. From 2007 to 2009 I worked as pre-doctoral researcher at the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) under the supervision of Vicenç Torra.

Academics :

- 2004, B. Sc. in Computer Science (UAB)
- 2007, M. Sc. in Computer Science (UAB)
- 2008, Ph. D. in Computer Science (UAB)

Positions :

- 2006, Researcher, UPC
- 2007, Phd. Student, IIIA-CSIC
- 2007, Part time associate professor, UPC
- 2009, Marie Curie Researcher, LAAS
- 2010, Tenure-track Lecturer, UPC

Research interests

In general, my research is focused on Statistical disclosure control (SDC) and Privacy preserving data mining (PPDM). In particular, I am interesed in the following areas:

-
Diclosure Risk Assesment. I have been working on several record linkage methods for evaluating the disclosure risk of SDC anonymization methods.

-
Microaggregation. Microaggregation is a well-known method for achieving k-anonymity in numerical databases, I have been working in several issues related about it, such as its aplication to large databases, attribute selection or its application to other types of data.

Practical applications of aggregation functions. Aggregation functions are broadly used in many areas, such as information fusion, record linkage, decision making or privacy preserving data mining. I have been working on practical applications of those functions.

Other activities

I am a collaborator of the research grup DMAG (Distributed Multimedia Applications Group). DMAG is a research group of the Computer Architecture Department at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. (UPC).

I edited with J. Herranz the book entitled 'Privacy and Anonymity in Information Management Systems', in Advanced Information and Knowledge Processing Springer Series, 2010.

I organized the ACM 1st Int. Workshop on Privacy and Anonymity for Very Large Datasets (PAVLAD'09) in 2009.
